Participant Information


 

Only participants that have a demonstrated record of a top quality display of military life in their chosen era will be invited to take part in this event.

 

The event is held in Waynesboro, Virginia at Ridgeview Park.  The location is open, mostly flat and almost entirely shaded which provides a perfect venue for a weekend event.

 

Waynesboro, VA is located in the central Shenandoah Valley in western Virginia.  Approximately half way between Winchester, VA and Roanoke, VA, Waynesboro is located on I-64 about 12 miles east of the junction of I-64 with I-81 in Staunton, VA.


 

  • Setup date is Friday June 22, 2018 beginning around noon.


  • Camping is allowed and welcomed.  Past events have had a sizable camping group which was quite enjoyable for visiting in the evening โ€œoffโ€ hours.


  • Restrooms are beside the exhibit area

  • Showers are available at the park pool building within walking distance


  • Drinking water is available


  • Campfires are allowed.  The sod must be removed and set aside for replacement at the end of the event


  • Campfires must be attended and a means of fire control must be nearby (water bucket, sand or fire extinguisher.)


  • Plans are proceeding to provide some if not all of the meals during the event.


  • A roped off area will be in place to allow scheduled demonstrations of blank firing of weapons.


  • This area is also available if a group wants to depict a tactical situation.  

  • Please NO live ammunition should be brought to this event.  Be prepared to demonstrate firearm knowledge to a safety officer.


  • Military vehicles are welcome.  If the owner is properly equipped and wishes to present their vehicle within the time line โ€“ the vehicle will be parked in the proper era location.  If the owner only wishes to display their vehicle, there will be a motor pool area for vehicle displays adjacent to the time line area.

From I-64 or Route 340 south:

From intersection of Route 340 and I64

 

  • follow Route 340 (Rosser Ave) north into city
  • proceed ~1.8 miles to stoplight/intersection with 13th Street
  • turn right & proceed ~.2 miles to S. Linden Ave
  • turn right & proceed ~.2 miles to end of S. Linden Ave. 
  • there is a service road leading into the park
  • follow service road, past amphitheater to camp area

 

From Route 340 north:

Follow Route 340(S. Delphine Ave) south to stoplight/intersection with Route 250 (Main Street)

 

  • turn right & proceed ~1.4 miles on Main Street (through downtown) to intersection with S. Linden Ave (past a Long John Silvers on left)
  • turn left & proceed ~.4 miles to end of S. Linden Ave. 
  • there is a service road leading into the park
  • follow service road, past amphitheater to camp area.

 

From Route 250 east:

Follow Route 250 west (Main Street) to stoplight/intersection with Route 340 (S. Delphine Ave)

 

  • go straight & proceed 1.4 miles on Main Street (through downtown) to intersection with S. Linden Ave (a Long John Silvers is on left)
  • turn left on S. Linden Ave & proceed ~.4 miles to end of S. Linden Ave.
  • there is a service road leading into the park
  • follow service road, past amphitheater to camp area.

 

 

From Route 250 west:

Follow Route 250 east (Main Street) to stoplight/intersection with Lew Dewitt Blvd

 

  • turn right & proceed ~.4 miles to end of S. Linden Ave
  • there is a service road leading into the park
  • follow service road, past amphitheater to camp area
  • go straight & proceed ~1.7 miles to intersection with S. Linden Ave
